The actress Sandra Oh from “Killing Eve” has teamed up with David Benioff and DB Weiss from “Game of Thrones” to create a Netflix comedy-drama about a university department head. The story of “The Chair” follows Ji-Yoon, played by Oh, who is the first female Chair of the English department at Pembroke, one of the prominent universities in the United States. The comedy drama is written by an executive producer and the showrunner is Amanda Peet.

Amanda Peet has created and produced The Chair, which is her first TV series. Her husband David Benioff, as well as his collaborator D.B. Weiss, and Daniel Gray Longino, will executive produce the show. Longino has directed the series which has been co-written by Annie Julia Wyman.


What is The Chair About?
The Chair has been termed as a “dramedy” that will star Sandra Oh as The Chair of an English department of a big university. The show will consist of a total of 6 episodes of half-hour and will focus on the inner workings of colleges to provide a fresh take on workplace humor.


Ji-Yoon is up against a lot of obstacles and has a lot of expectations, especially because she’s the first Asian woman to lead the department and one of the very few people of a different race on staff at the institution. Professor Joan Hambling, played by Holland Taylor, is a smart friend who helps her friend, Ji-Yoon to manage the demands of her new post.
