The Custos of the Holy Land, the Franciscan priest Francesco Patton, will celebrate Holy Mass from the Jordan River, an occasion to renew the promises of Baptism within the framework of the virtual pilgrimage organized by the Magdala Center.

The Mass will be on March 18 at 5:00 pm Holy Land time, 9:00 am Central Mexico time. The transmission will be made through the official YouTube channel of the Magdala Center.

The ceremony will take place within the framework of the fourth pilgrimage and virtual retreat to the Holy Land, which has as its motto “Touring the Holy Land hand in hand with the Church”.

The pilgrimage began on February 28 and will end on April 21, and participation is completely free.

In a statement sent to ACI Prensa, the Magdala Center highlighted that “the sacrament of Baptism is the door to the other sacraments of the Church, instituted by the Risen Christ in the missionary mandate in the appearance in Galilee to the disciples: ‘Go, then and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

“The reception of this sacrament is necessary for salvation and configuration with Christ because of the indelible character that it imprints on the baptized person,” he specified.

“By this sacrament, the baptized are freed from original sin and are incorporated into the Paschal Mystery of Christ, being reborn as new creatures and adopted children of God the Father through the merits of Jesus Christ,” he added.
