‘Nanny Club’ Canceled on Netflix After Two Seasons

Time to hang up again from Claudia’s bedroom.

Netflix has been cancelled Babysitter Club Just two seasons later, despite a positive reception. The decision comes five months after the show’s second season premiered on the platform.

Babysitter ClubBased on Ann M. Martin’s best-selling novel series, it tells the story of a group of high school friends who form and run a babysitting service while dealing with some of life’s growing pains. The series was positively criticized for its light-hearted brushwork and depiction of teenage relationships between hard-core girls.

While Netflix typically doesn’t release detailed viewing figures for most of its productions, the second season ranked ninth among the top 10 global English-language shows for streaming in the full week following its October 11-17 premiere. However, it didn’t make it to Netflix’s US top 10 list.

“I’ve wanted to be a part of the world that Ann M. Martin created since I was 7, and for two amazing seasons, I actually had to be a part of that world,” the show’s creator and host Rachel Shukert said in a statement. “That was a dream come true. While I am saddened not to return to Stoney Brook for 20 seasons, the incredible show I have created for our amazing cast and crew and when they need it most So proud of the way that brings joy and comfort to so many people. Thanks to Walden Media and Netflix for giving us the opportunity to introduce Kristy, Claudia, Stacey, Mary Anne, Dawn, Jessi and Mallory to a new generation of fans who I know will Love them as we have for years.”

The show stars Sophie Grace as Christie Thomas, Tamata Momota as Claudia Kishi, Shay Rudolph as Stacey McGill, Maria Baker as Mary Anne Speer, and Kindra Kishi Sanchez as Dawn Shaffer (played by Hochtel Gomez in season one), Vivian Watson as Mallory Pike and Anas Lee as Jesse Ramsey. Alicia Silverstone plays Kristy’s mother, Elizabeth, while Mark Feuerstein plays Elizabeth’s fiancé and later husband, Watson Brewer.
