And just like that… ‘Sex in New York’ will continue in our lives. Because it’s official, the sequel series ‘And Just Like That…’ has been renewed for a second season, as HBO Max confirmed today.
Although ‘And Just Like That…’ was initially conceived as an event miniseries, the audience success and the social impact generated by its ten episodes have led HBO Max to give the green light to a new season, which will continue exploring the fabulous and cosmopolitan lives of the characters we have been following for 24 years now. It is assumed that Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis will return to the series, although the streamer has not yet officially announced the cast.
‘And Just Like That…’ is the new chapter of the iconic HBO comedy ‘Sex and the City’, from producer Michael Patrick King, whose first season premiered earlier this year. The revival gave a lot to talk about during its broadcast, dividing the audience before the new plots and characters (ahem Che Díaz ahem), in addition to making headlines for the controversy behind the cameras of the accusations of sexual assault against Chris Noth, who plays Mr Big.
Despite the criticism and the debate generated around it (or perhaps in part because of it), HBO Max has decided to continue the series, which in the end has turned out to be much more relevant than expected.
Don’t wait for Samantha
‘And Just Like That…’ brought Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte back on their journey through life at 50, very different from their experiences lived at 30 in ‘Sex and the City’. However, the new season was characterized by a great absence, that of Samantha Jones, who decided not to participate in the revival due to her enmity with the protagonist. Well, for those who expect things to work out between them, it is better to get used to the idea that this will not happen, because Parker has already said on more than one occasion that it is not likely.
Of the new season, Michael Patrick King says, “I’m thrilled and excited to tell more stories about these vibrant and bold characters, played by these powerful and incredible actresses. The fact is we’re all excited. And just like that… our sex life is back.
Sarah Aubrey, Head of Original Content for HBO Max adds: “We’ve loved the cultural conversation generated by these characters and their stories, set in a world we already know and love so much. We’re proud of the work that Michael Patrick King and our wonderful writers , producers, cast and crew have done to bring these stories to the screen. We can’t wait for fans to see what we have in store for season two!”
