Cobra Kai reveals big change in Season 6

When Cobra Kai came to life in 2018, it’s fair to say that a lot of their fans came from nostalgia. Karate Kid has a huge fan base and many characters have been introduced to pop culture through the film. Certainly, the minds behind the series had this in mind.

However, it is true that, for Cobra Kai work, nostalgia just wasn’t enough. The series had to deliver a narrative of its own and introduce new characters to have any hope of surviving. Well, the production not only managed to be successful on both fronts, but also to become one of the most successful productions in recent years.

After all, season after season, the series offers fans action, comedy, drama and comebacks from the famous Karate Kid characters. In its fifth season, the series upped the ante even further. John Kreese was in jail and a former ally, Terry Silver took over the dojo. Therefore, Johnny and Daniel faced a real empire.

When the fifth season comes to an end, naturally fans have already questioned whether, Cobra Kai will lose strength in season 6. Well, the minds behind the series, Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, have no worries in this regard. Here’s why.

Cobra Kai will have season 6 “international”

With its dojo toppled, Terry Silver behind bars, and a sense of relative peace in the valley, Season 6 of Cobra Kai seems to have nowhere to go. However, Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg stated that they still have some conflicts to resolve. To Variety, the trio stated:

“If you’re the best at karate, what are you going to do? Maybe there’s something beyond your local area, comparing the series to the “Rocky” movies in the sense that now that we’ve seen these new martial arts highlights conquer their region, maybe it’s time for them to explore international challenges.”

Certainly, Sekai Taikai will have a big impact, taking the series to an international level. In turn, this is a great tournament where the best of the best compete to see who are the true prodigies of Karate. However, there is another big conflict for the new year.

The 6th season of Cobra Kai should bring in John Kreese again. By faking his death, the former sensei has escaped from prison and is back on the streets with revenge in mind. Regarding this, Schlossberg joked:

“There’s the best Cobra Kai snake out there… Let’s see if life stays easy in Season 6, or if Kreese has anything to say. Something tells me it will be the last.”

That is, apparently, the story of Kreese is still far from over.

Netflix hasn’t confirmed the season yet.

Although most of the producers give the 6th season as confirmed, so far, Netflix has not made the production official. However, it is not difficult to predict that the service will hit the hammer in a positive way in the coming days.

Since it was released, Cobra Kai is among the most watched series in the world, leading in most countries. However, attention was drawn to the fact that, in previous seasons, Netflix confirmed the return of the series even before the premiere.

Another point is whether, the sixth season will be the last. Until then, the creators of the series stated that they planned from the beginning, that six seasons would be the ideal for storytelling. But, the expectation is that, as the success of the series grows, other seasons will emerge.

Finally, there is the possibility that the series will gain derivatives. An idea raised would be to tell the origin of Mr. Myagi. However, so far, everything revolves around speculation.
