Netflix released a fantasy drama television series, The Witcher in December 2019. The show has created a massive fanbase. The Witcher will be coming back for the fourth season on Netflix in 2021. Previously, the show revolved around several short stories about the journey of The Witcher with his friend, Jaskier. Queen Calanthe of Cintra on her deathbed told her granddaughter Ciri to meet Geralt of Revia. On the other hand, Yennifer turns into a sorcerer who earlier was a cripple.
Renewal Status of The Witcher Season 2
The Witcher season 2 was announced even before season 1 premiered. This time certainly there will be 8 episodes same as its previous season. The first schedule for shooting were to start in early 2020. Since coronavirus outbreak happened which caused unwanted delay to the shoot. But the shoot has been resumed from August 17, according to the official twitter account.
Cast and What to Expect from The Witcher Season 2
The official cast list hasn’t been announced till now. But we expect the main cast will be reprising their respective roles. The show got an initial boast since the inclusion of Henry Cavill. He plays the main lead, Geralt of Rivia. Fray Allen plays the role of Ciri and Anya Chalotra plays the role of the sorcerer Yenefer of Vengerberg. Several new cast members are also expected to start in the upcoming season. Kristofer Hivju is also part of this series, he is known for playing Tormund Giantsbane in Game of Thrones. He will reprise role of Man-turned monster, Nivellen.
Synopsis of The Witcher Season 2
Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski has written the book on which the show is based. The show mainly follows Geralt of Rivia and his predestined connection with Princess Ciri of Cintra. It is set on a frictional landmass which is called ‘The Continent’. There are several other side stories about Geralt in his route to meet princess Ciri.
