Taylor Swift And Katy Perry Have Been Beefing For Quite A While Now And Its Time It Came To A Close
Katy Perry and Taylor Swift formerly were best friends until their friendship hit a bump and ended in 2010. It had been a long journey for them both, and the friendship between the two pop singers was strong.
However, things started going south soon after. The feud mainly started over some backup dancers that led to a raging battle of diss tracks, not-so-subtle interview comments, and a common ex-boyfriend.
Nevertheless, Perry and Swift might be getting along once more, after years of drama and endless emotional rollercoasters. Perry appeared in Swift’s ”You Need To Calm Down” music video, which sparked rumors that the two might finally collaborate for the long-promised and anticipated music video. Until then, here’s a complete timeline of Perry and Swift’s friendship and their eventual fallout.
Katy Perry And Taylor Swift Had The Same Ex That Only Made Things Worse
Their friendship started in 2008. Perry and Swift were photographed together with Miley Cyrus during the MTV Video Music Awards. Later in 2009, the two, once again, were spotted posing together at a Grammy event honoring Clive Davis.
The same year Perry released her music video ‘Waking Up In Vegas.’ Taylor tweeted in the response of the video saying,
” Watching the ‘Waking Up in Vegas’ video. I love Katy Perry. I think I’m going to hang her poster on my wall now.” Perry tweeted back saying,
@taylorswift13 You're as sweet as pie! Let's write a song together about the subject we know best… for my new record. It'll be brilliant~

Their friendship was only growing stronger until 2012 when Perry began dating Taylor’s ex, John Mayer. Taylor and John Mayer’s break up led to Taylor composing ‘Dear John,’ a confessional song, which Mayer labeled as “cheap songwriting.”
Nevertheless, their feud got going over a background dancer. Lockhart Brownlie revealed that he and two other background dancers from Taylor’s Red tour left and joined Perry’s Prism tour.
Swift took an exception and thus began the bad blood between them. Taylor even composed ‘Bad Blood,’ which infers to their beef.
However, in 2016 rumors were that the former best friends would reconcile. Finally, in 2018, Katy and Taylor cleared the air between themselves, and they might be collaborating for a music video soon.
