We all loved Ricky Gervais in After Life. The comedian has done a brilliant job, not only as an actor but also as a writer and director.
Moreover, the story he told us through the series, which makes a person think about Life. Tony had faced a lot in his life, and the death of his wife has caused trauma for m=him. He is experiencing a void which he is unable to fill.
However, the last words of his wife comfort him, and we see his character evolving throughout the series.
We see a kinder and simple form of Tony in the 1st season. But as he experiences happiness, his father dies, hence leaving him devastated. However, instead of becoming sad and depressed, he tries to become kind and helps others in finding comfort. We see a changed Tony in the 2nd season, which we loved.
The ending explained
Many of the viewers are confused about the ending of After Life season 2. In the end, we saw Tony in his room, watching a video of his wife. The expressions in his face clearly stated that he is upset and cannot help himself.
After some time, we hear a knock on his door, and we see the nurse standing behind it. She asks Tony out for a date. What was Tony’s reply? We guess it’s a yes from him. Although Tony faced a lot of sadness and depression in his Life, he finally is getting some happiness and should not keep himself away from it.
Though nobody can replace the place of his wife in his Life, he can love again, right? However, will there be another season? We hope so.
