When they see us has been one hell of a series for Netflix, the series has created a lot of controversies and has even shown Netflix the court. Will we get another season of the series?
Will Netflix allow for another season of When They See Us?
For now, this is a major question. After what happened in the court, it is unlikely that there would be another season of When They See Us.
The show faced a lawsuit by a US police training firm, which stated that the show had defamed the Reid technique. It also noted that the technique shown in the series is false, but the judge dismissed it, and Netflix won the case.
After the streaming service won the case, there was another hurdle. Along with Netflix, the showrunner of the show, Ava DuVernay, was charged for defamation. Linda Fairstein filed a case against them to show her as a racist in the show.
Though now, the streaming service and the creator are free of all charges, it is highly doubted that there would be another season.
Why we need another season?
There are certain reasons as to why we need another season of When They See Us. The first one is that the series showed us how justice is always served. It showed us the mindset of people related to race, country, and other aspects.
When They See Us was way ahead of its time. The show covered the case of Central Park Five in 4 episodes and showed everyone the truth. We got to see how 5 innocent boys were accused of a crime they had never done.
Furthermore, it also showed us the way they were treated. The boys were given the Reid Technique, where they were kept for 42 hours without food, water, and bathroom breaks.
How was justice served? You need to see the series to know the answer. We need more shows like this to open our eyes and see the truth.
