Regardless of the rumors, “Wonder Woman 1984” will get a full theatrical run. The stories said that the movie could directly go to streaming platforms instead.
Warner Bros. has begun modification of movies like “Trolls World Tour,” “The Invisible Man,” etc. to release them on VOD platforms. It looks like they are sticking to the plan of a nationwide release.
The release date for the movie was set to June 5th. But, Director, Patty Jenkins has moved the time forward to 14th August 2020. But, It is a risky choice. With the social-distancing protocol, gatherings are prohibited.
Wonder Woman’s Reception
“Wonder Woman” was an absolute hit in 2017, where the movie grossed more than 820 Million dollars globally. The film had a star cast including- Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Robin Wright, and Connie Nielsen, but this time they’re joined by Kristen Wiig and Pedro Pascal. The movie did overwhelmingly well, among it one of the highest-grossing superhero movies.
WB’s Plan
The production houses are suffering huge losses caused by the quarantining and isolation measures taken up by the citizens. Mid-march, all the theatres in New York and Los Angeles, have been shut down, and other states will soon follow their suit.
“Bird of Prey” had an underwhelming response globally, but the movie is currently streaming on various platforms for people to watch. Videos took up to a 73% drop amidst the shutdowns.
Ideally, it is better to release Wonder Woman 1984 on streaming platforms. Millions are sitting at home, waiting for something new to watch.
But, the studio is hopeful. Director Patty Jenkins said she believes in the power of cinema. She also prays for better times ahead.
We made Wonder Woman 1984 for the big screen and I believe in the power of cinema. In these terrible times, when theater owners are struggling as so many are, we are excited to re-date our film to August 14th 2020 in a theater near you, and pray for better times for all by then pic.twitter.com/85ykQ8x6NE

We agree with Jenkins, we can all only hope and pray for good times ahead. In dire need of a miracle, everyone should support each other in times of crisis.
