The New Season Of Sherlock Is Officially Confirmed But Release Has Been Delayed
The BBC crime-thriller-drama series, an adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s famous novel Sherlock Holmes. Has declared its renewal of Season 5. Fans and critics alike have lost it. Literally.
However, according to sources, the production and release of the series have been inevitably delayed as Hollywood is in complete lockdown due to the Coronavirus outbreak.
Benedict Cumberbatch and Sherlock fans have long awaited this day, and finally, we have confirmation of season 5, although unsure of its arrival on BBC and Netflix.
Sherlock Season 5: Plot, Cast And Release Date
Written by Mark Gatiss, Steven Moffat and Stephen Thompson and produced by Mark Gatiss and Steven Thompson starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman and the likes, the plot of the new season of Sherlock is still under the wraps. However, we expect the new season to pick up from where it left off.
In the previous season of Sherlock, we were introduced to Eurus Holmes(Sian Brooke), of whose existence Sherlock himself was unaware. In an interview with Express.co.uk Sian, Brooke expressed her implicit desires to reprise the character of Eurus Holmes. She said,
“It would be great; she is a character I would love to revisit. You don’t get to play these parts every day, she’s abnormal, and those sorts of parts are always great.”
So, we take it as an insinuation of her return in season 5. The season four finale saw Eurus back safely in her confinement unit, given the fact that she is an expert manipulator and thrives on taunts aimed at her brother by herself.
Sherlock also found out how Eurus had killed his best friend “Redbeard” as a child and his mistaken remembrance of the incident.
Sherlock and Watson will remain companions in the next season. Therefore, the three might have their own stories featured in season 5. The release date is yet unknown, but we can expect it in the next two years.
