Back in 1993, Hocus Pocus, written by “Workaholics”, released all over with the hope of becoming a new sensation but couldn’t make so. Planning to make that wish true, Hocus Pocus 2 has been signed and confirmed by Adam Shankman. Rumours are swirling that Disney was performing on reuniting Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy for the long-awaited sequel.
Rumour or reality about the director:
According to a report in Variety, Adam Shankman has signed on to direct the project. That won’t be for the large screen except for the Disney+ streaming service.
Shankman, whose directorial project includes “Hairspray”, is reportedly within the midst of some pre-production work on Disney. This work consists of a sequel to “Enchanted”, titled “Disenchanted”. On which Variety reported “it’s yet to be determined” which of the two films will enter production first.
Will the cast be the same?
It has been additionally reported that the three original cast members have yet to check-in for the sequel. But Disney is hopeful that they’re going to get entangled in some capacity. Although sources say, the trio would reprise their roles instead of the reboot “Hocus Pocus” with new stars.
However, signs point to the first cast reuniting for the sequel. On Halloween 2019, Parker skilled a lover question about the sequel, indicating that she and her co-stars were all able to return.
“Any chance of a sequel?” wrote a lover. “We have all said yes,” responded Parker. “Now, we wait.”
Hocus Pocus centred on a gaggle of youngsters in Salem. Massachusetts, who accidentally resurrect a coven of evil witches played by Midler, Parker, and Najimy. With the assistance of a magical cat, the youngsters must stop the witch sisters from becoming immortal.
Though the film wasn’t successful when it had been released in theatres, it’s since gained classic cult status and maybe a stalwart of the Halloween season.
No word on whether Hocus Pocus 2 will follow the plot of the book or if it’ll be an all-new story.
