All of us have been eager for the next season of Derry Girls. The British Sitcom is based on The Troubles in Derry, the time in the nineties when there was a conflict between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. The story revolves around Erin and her friends Michelle, Clare and her cousin Orla in their teens in Northern Ireland amidst The Troubles. All of this is happening in and around their lives while being in a Catholic Girls High School.
Expected Release Date:
The show was officially renewed for another season, so there’s some good news. The first season aired in February 2018 and then there was a hiatus of about a year. Later, the second season aired in April 2019. Soon after the release of the second season, the show’s renewal was announced. Judging by the pattern, we expect the third season to come about in May 2020, but there might be a delay. Sadly, due to the coronavirus outbreak, the production of almost every show has halted. Owing to the above reason, there might be a delay that is to be expected.
According to reports, the majority of the cast is expected to return for the next iteration. Saoirse-Monica Jackson as Erin Quinn, Kathy Kiera Clarke as Aunt Sarah, Louisa Harland as Orla McCool, Tara Lynne O’Neill as Ma/Mary, Nicola Coughlan as Clare Devlin and Dylan Llewellyn as James are all expected to return.
Season two’s finale was something special. The season started with James’ estranged mother returning into his life. Additionally, his mother offered him to come back to England and to leave Derry. James had all but made his mind to leave Derry for good, but in the season’s finale, he returns full of joy. Also, he screams “I’m a Derry Girl”, and that had all of our tears. We expect season three to pick up from where season two left and bring us laughter and tears.
