An elderly woman of 72 was beaten up badly by a rock in Detroit. The offender has been identified as Shon Glen Lacey Jr., 20. The incident took place on Thursday at around 8:24 am. The woman resided in her home in the 13970 blocks of Lauder Street on Detroit’s west side.
Offender Assaults Elderly
Lacey knew the old woman as he has shoveled snow for her on several occasions. According to police, the boy of 20 assaulted the woman repeatedly. He reportedly hit her in her head and torso with a rock. When this incident came in the attention of the police, they immediately came to the crime scene.
The police found the bloodied body of the woman lying on the ground. She was immediately taken to the hospital by the authorities for the treatment of her injuries.
Offender Ran From Crime Scene
According to police, Lacey had run from the crime scene before the police arrived. He had reportedly stolen the woman’s car and runoff. Officers then went on a search and were successful in tracing the vehicle. Lacey upon spotting police after he tried to run from him. But then he crashed into another vehicle and at the end started running on foot.
Officials soon caught him and he was arrested. A probable cause conference has been scheduled for him for February 19 and a preliminary exam has been scheduled for February 26. Lacey is being held of a $1 million bail.
The identity of the woman has not been disclosed. In addition to this, the motive behind the assault is also not clear. Investigators are working on this case and soon they will come to a conclusion. The current condition of the elderly woman has not been disclosed too.
