A family had to endure two deaths in a row recently. First, they suffered the loss of an elderly than a youngster. A Florida high school football player who skipped a team- sponsored college tour to attend his grandfather’s funeral was gunned down to death. This incident took place on Saturday at around 2:30 pm.
The boy has been identified as Terrance Jackson, 15. The teen studies at Deerfield High School. He was among two people who had been killed across the street from Victory City Church in Riviera Beach. The other shot was Royce Freeman, 47. Another woman was injured in the mishap.
“Not A Random Incident”
According to the Florida police department, this incident was not a random affair. They are investigating deep into the case and will soon come to a conclusion. Police on Twitter tweeted, “was not a random act of violence.”
The police believe that it was a result of a dispute between relatives of the deceased whose funeral had been held. This information was put forth by Riviera Beach police. But they have not come up to a definite conclusion.
“Jackson was a football player and he played on the defensive end. He had passed on a trip to visit colleges with his 20 other teammates to attend the funeral,” said Jevon Glenn, team’s coach. The coach praises the now deceased teen by appreciating his skills as a basketball player. According to him, Jackson had the potential to touch tremendous heights with his style and flair for playing.
“Waiting In The Wings”
“He was waiting in the wings. This year was going to be his year,” said the coach, Jevon Glenn.
His entire team is mourning his death. They tweeted, “Why God!”.
In a shocking revelation, the church had been aware of the potential for violence because of a dispute involving the family. The fight reportedly broke after the mourners left the service, and a flash between individual members led to the shooting.
