Just 16 days into 2020 and the year has already started with a bang. And by bang, we mean an actual gunshot bang. Moreover, Henderson Police now reveal they will inspect the department’s first homicide of the new year. According to reports, the murder happened after a drug-related robbery in early January.
Officers from the Henderson Police Department quickly responded to the intersection of Kentwood Peak Avenue and Wagner Valley Street. The area near Coronado Center Drive and Sunridge Heights Parkway. Besides, the received news of a gunshot as well as a person lying unconscious in the street.
The victim lost his life during an ongoing drug deal
Authorities located a man lying between the streets. Moreover, he showed an apparent gunshot wound. Medics immediately took him to Sunrise Hospital for treatment. However, he remained in a “poor condition.” He finally gave up his battle and died on January 12. As of now, the victim remains anonymous. The Clark County Coroner’s Office will release the identity only after telling his/her family.
According to detectives, the incident seems to be a drug-related robbery. The said victim tried to conduct a “drug rip.” That too, on two other means who were meeting him for a narcotics sale. Besides, cops managed to identify and arrest the two likely suspects.
Police arrested two suspects, aged 18 and 19
Eduardo Rosario, 19, and Brian Vergara, 18, are responsible for the death of the victim. According to reports, police took them into custody on January 10. The two face several different charges. Rosario faces charges of battery with a deadly weapon. Along with that, possession to sell a schedule I/II substance. Meanwhile, Vergara faces one count of possession with a purpose to sell a program I/II substance.
It is not announced if any one of the two suspects will face further charges. HDP says this case remains an open investigation. Moreover, this is the first murder case of the area in the new year.
