The Ohio teenager went missing in late December. He was now found dead with his body stuck in a chimney of an empty house.
Went In Himself And Got Stuck
The 14-year-old Harley Dilly was missing for about three weeks, and his family was distraught. On January 13, his body was found in a chimney. According to reports, he died after climbing into the house’s chimney and then got trapped. The size of the fireplace was just 9 inches by 13 inches.
Police Chief Robert Hickman commented on this and said this was not the outcome they were hoping for, but the family got closure.
Found Boy’s Glasses And Jacket First
The search was ongoing, and the searchers entered a house on Monday. The house was around the corner from the listed address of the boy’s home. The searchers found Harley’s glasses and jacket on the second floor. They then searched around and saw his remains inside the chimney.
The boy prepped well before diving in the chimney. He was conscious enough to remove his jacket and glasses. But, stupid enough to jump instill.
Police went near the house once but didn’t get in as there was no sign of a broken lock or window. The house was as secluded as it can be. When they failed everywhere else, they decided to went into this house.
The Cause Of Death
The house, according to the reports, was a summer home and was being remodeled. The Ottawa County Coroner’s Office ruled the cause of death. It stated the reason to be compressive asphyxia, and it appeared to be accidental, not forced.
Final reports relating to toxicology is not out yet. Chief Hickman said there were no signs of foul play. Police issued a statement thanking everyone for assistance and saying that the search has been concluded. His 26-year-old sister, Ashlyn, expressed her great sorrow by posting a post on Facebook with seven crying emojis.
