An American Airlines employee went out of the way to stalk one of the passengers. Moreover, the employee took or ‘stole’ the passenger’s number. That too, from her luggage bag. He then went ahead following her onto a flight. According to a lawsuit, the alleged man sent her more than 100 creepy text messages.
Ashley Barno felt extremely violated when one of the employees harassed her with texts. Besides, she revealed the man identifies as Ahmad. In one of the many documents, he told her she looked ‘gorgeous in her gray top’. He also confessed to getting her name, phone number as well as an address from the tag on her carry-on bag.
Ahmad previously harassed many other harassed before Ashley
Regardless, the messages are incredibly creepy and nerve-racking. They reveal that Ahmad followed Ashley and joined her on her flight from San Diego’s International Airport to Chicago O’Hare. The incident dates back to April, last year. ‘I am on board now. Are you going to Chicago too??’, he said to Ashley in one of the messages.
Ahmad then told the terrified woman that he could get her free flights. Not only that but also access to lounges. He asked her if she’ll join him. ‘I like you!! Come on join me!!’, he wrote. Not on duty for American at the time, the employee first texted her. He asked her how she is. However, Ashley recognized that as an unknown number and said, ‘Sorry, I’m not sure this is’.
For a very long time, Ashley kept asking the caller for his/her name. She repeatedly asked ‘Who are you?’ and ‘How did you get my info’. Moreover, the man even knew what he looked like. Along with that, they were in an enclosed plane with absolutely no way out. This whole scene scared Ashley. ‘….what he did was not OK, and not acceptable at all,’ the victim declared confidently.
Ashley is suing American Airlines
Ashley asked Ahmad to leave her alone. But he replied saying that they could be friends. He told her that friendship with him would be beneficial for her. ‘I can always give you good seats, access to the lounges, and free drinks,’ he tried to tempt her. Barno shared the whole encounter with a flight attendant. She confided about the messages. Moreover, company employees met Ahmad at Chicago airport.
The flight attendant also added that this had happened before. Moreover, letting out that it’s not ‘the first time he’s done something like this’. Ashley now plans to sue the airlines for sexual harassment, negligent hiring as well as other wrongdoings.
The stalker no longer works for American Airlines
‘American Airlines did not do a sufficient job in hiring and supervising employees to keep its customers safe from sexual harassment and stalking’, the lawsuit reads. Ashley got off the plane and quickly called her sister. She cried the entire time. American Airlines responded that they take the privacy and security of their customers as very important. Moreover, they added that Ahmad no longer works for the company.
