12th January 2020, early morning violence started in East Baltimore with shooting, leading to several deaths. Continuous shots then took place at various locations in the city throughout the day.
The Mayhem Began
The first shooting came into notice at 2:30 in the morning involving three women where one was fatally wounded. Unfortunately, the victim passed away shortly after her arrival at the hospital. A little later the same day Police came to know about another shooting incident in southeast Baltimore where a 46-year-old man suffered a gunshot on the leg. After the second incident, another victim walked into the hospital with a gunshot wound seeking medical assistance.
The Horrific Incidents Continued
Things did not end here, at 2:30 p.m. police found a man shot fatally in the southeast of the city. Half an hour later, a 37-year-old man became a victim of the shooting incident in central Baltimore, leaving him injured. This continued the whole day, as police found another man at 7 p.m. been wounded on the northeastern side of Baltimore. The Mayhem ended at 11 p.m. when the police authorities found another fatally injured man in the northwest of the city.
The total casualty count of the whole incident was twelve. Five were fatally injured. This has not been the first time the city witnessed such an unfortunate event. According to reports, Baltimore recorded over 348 violent incidents last year. This is the fifth time that more than 300 people became victims of shooting incidents in the city.

Day Of Pride Turned To A Day Of Shame
Brandon Scott, the City Council president, condemned the violence. He stated the sorrow of destruction and loss on the day on which the people of Baltimore should have been filled with pride. Scott was referencing a playoff game hosted by the Baltimore Raven on the same night. The council president also said that the incident was “Heartbreaking” and should end soon. He also plans to inquest the city’s police commissioner and agency heads for their negligence.
