After random knife attack in and around downtown Colorado Springs, at least eight people were taken to the hospital. Police announced that the incident took place on early Monday morning. The police told local news outlets that two people were attacked by a man described as “delirious”. At around 1:30 am, the stabbing spree began. According to NBC affiliate KOAA-TV, the suspect stabbed several more people near a park and outside a bar.
Until officers arrived, some of the victims were able to hold the suspect. He was then taken into custody without further incident. More than eight people were confirmed to be hospitalized. However, their condition was not immediately known. The charges against the suspect and his identification are yet to be released. A series of stabbings
The suspect was taken into custody after a series of stabbings that appeared to be random attacks in Colorado Springs. The officers responded to reports of a stabbing at about 1:30 a.m. The location of response was Eighth Street and Limit Street, close to the city’s downtown. The police said in a statement that they found two people had been stabbed. The investigators were looking for the attacker, who was reported to have fled on walking trails. They fanned out to search through the nearby America the Beautiful Park. During their search, they found more stabbing victims there.
Suspect detained by victims
The investigating officers found the suspect just after 2 a.m. The Police officers mentioned a man who was being detained by some of the victims. Sgt. Shawn Peterson of the Colorado Springs Police told KKTV11 News that some citizens were dealing with the victims. These citizens gave a lot more detail about where they could locate where the suspect was en route to. As a result of the citizens’ help, they were able to stop him from hurting anybody else.
We can only hope that immediate and strict action will be taken without any further delay. Justice must be served. It is truly important that further statements are released and the matter is taken to court immediately.
