An 18-year-old teenager who murdered his pregnant girlfriend. Because she waited for too long to get an abortion, she has been sentenced to 65 years in prison.
This Indiana teenager, Aaron Trejo, 18-year-old, was sentenced on Tuesday for December 2018 murder of his then 17-year-old girlfriend, Brena Rouhselang, in St. Joseph County Superior Court.
According to CNN Wire, for the crimes committed by Trejo, he received two charges. One for the murder of Rouhselang, he got 55 years. Another for the murder of their unborn child, he got 10 years in prison. Additionally, he also received a ‘year of credit’ for the time he already served.
Rouhselang Already Six Months Pregnant When She Told Trejo
In 2018, Rouhselang, a cheerleader at Mishawaka High School, told trejo who was 16-year-old and a member of the football team that she was six months pregnant, according to the authorities.
The father of the child was believed to be Trejo and it was reported that neither of them wanted to have the child. However, Rouhselang did not take the path of abortion earlier in her first few months of pregnancy.
In Indiana, the state law does not allow late-term abortions. They are only allowed unless and until they are recommended by the doctors to be medically necessary to save the life of a mother.
According to court papers, after finding out about her pregnancy, Trejo stabbed Rouhselang to death and threw her body in a dumpster. After he murdered, he also threw away her phone and other murder weapons into a river.
Trejo Planned The Murder Of His Girlfriend One Week Before
In an affidavit, Trejo said, “I took the action. I took her life.” He also added that he had planned the murder about one week in advance. Trejo was arrested on December 9th, 2018, for the crime he committed. He was charged with one count of murder and one count of feticide, which is a third-degree felony. Initially, Trejo faced upto 80 years in prison. However, last October he pleaded guilty to all the offenses he committed.
