In Richmond Hills, Queens, a 92-year-old woman, was found dead in the streets. I am treating this case as a homicide.
The Local Cat Lady May Have Been Strangled
Maria Fuertes’ lifeless body was found near Liberty Avenue and 127th street. It was just after midnight on Monday.
She was known around famously as the local cat lady. The police believe a stranger may have strangled her. The surrounding neighbourhood people are in shock because she was beloved by all.
Took Care Of Everyone Along With The Animals
Her loved ones said that she was a brilliant lady and took care of everyone, not just animals. She would always come out late at night to feed the stray animals. All dogs and cats knew her, and they miss her at night.
Neighbours say the animals still go to her apartment waiting to be fed by her.
Fuertes’ neighbour Anthony Davis said that she was just an older woman, who would want to harm her. He said she was loved by everyone and never did anything to hurt others. We don’t know the whole case, but he asked why would anyone attack her.
The surveillance video of the street showed that she was walking when she bumped into a man. She immediately fell on the ground, and the man walked away. This may not be the whole case, but, police now want to talk to that strange man. He could be the suspect, but it was seen that he walked away.
The police first believed it to be a death by natural causes, but then the 106th precinct of Queens posted on Twitter. They wrote that the 92-year-old woman’s case is now being investigated as a homicide. The NYPD is asking for the public’s assistance in finding the person responsible for this heinous crime.
