In a tragic case, a woman fights for her life while her daughter died after her ex-husband stabbed them both. Reportedly, St. Pete Police reached 22nd Avenue North and 53rd Street in St.Petersburgh after receiving a call. A man allegedly stabbed both the women.
The accused stabbed his ex-wife and her daughter with a knife
Police took Willie Maynard-Jones, 60, to the hospital as she suffered from a stab wound. The 60-year-old is still recovering. However, her daughter, Marqueita Maynard, 34, died after suffering from her injuries. Luckily, cops caught the suspect, Stanley Jones, 52, who tried to escape on his bicycle.
Moreover, Stanley, who is Willie’s ex-husband, already had officials in search of him for aggravated stalking. They suspect Jones had been waiting for the two to return home and then attacked them. In February, the court gave him a jail sentence for stalking his ex-wife, Willie. However, numerous other talking incidents took place after he finished his sentence in October. Moreover, Willie’s brother let out that she accused him of harassing her last week.
Her brother also revealed that his sister had just returned from vacation. But the mother-daughter duo returned to this horror. Willie went through two surgeries. But her daughter did not survive the attack. She died just one day after the 34th birthday because of her injuries.
Police were already in search of Jones for stalking his ex-wife
According to St. Pete Officers, a search warrant for Stanley Jones had been put out before Friday’s attack. However, Jones is homeless, which made it difficult for them to locate him at an exact location. Neighbours living close to the victims were left shocked and confused. They couldn’t wrap their heads around the entire incident.
Stanley Jones faces charges for first-degree murder as well as attempted first-degree murder. Along with violation of an order, tampering with evidence, and possible cause for aggravated stalking. Not only that but also burglary and arson as he once set his ex-wife’s clothes on fire.
