Actor Ben Unwin Dead A Day Before His 42nd Birthday!!


Australian actor Ben Unwin was found dead in his home on August 14. The cops found his body at his home and have declared the death does not look suspicious. He played the character of Jesse McGregor on Aussie soap-opera Home and Away.

Who Was Ben Unwin?

Ben Unwin was a popular Australian actor. Moreover, He portrayed the character of bad-boy Jesse McGregor on the hit soap-opera Home and Away. He played the character on the show from 1996 to 2000 and then again from 2002 to 2005. He initially auditioned for a different role, but was then cast as Jesse, which was a character written specially for him.

Ben was a celebrated actor and was nominated in 1997 for the category of Most Popular New Talent at the Logie Awards. The same year he was also nominated for “outstanding performance as a newcomer” at the British National Television. In 1999 he was again nominated for Best Actor and also Sexiest Male Actor at the inside Soap Awards.

Ben Unwin’s Death

Unwin’s body was found at his residence in Minyon Falls, which is about a 3 hour drive away from Brisbane. The New South Wales Police officers found his body on the 14th of August, which was just a day before his 42nd birthday. There was nothing suspicious to be noted regarding the death according to the cops.

Tributes Pouring In

Unwin’s death was mourned all around with tributes pouring in for him from his fellow actors. Ada Nicodemou, who played Leah Patterson-Baker on the show, posted a message on Instagram to pay Unwin a tribute saying, “I just woke up to the tragic news of Ben’s passing, my heart goes out to his family.”

Kimberley Cooper, another co-star who played gypsy Smith also posted a very heartfelt tribute to him on her Instagram. “My first TV week cover was with you. “We had years of laughter, be it giggles on set trying to get through scenes as lovers or doubled over belly laughs at the pubs after work.

“I will be sad for now, but I promise to tell stories of great joy about our times together. You forever hold a special place in my heart. Love you Onion” was her message along with a photo of the two together. Ben had quit acting to pursue a career as a solicitor after acquiring a law degree in Newcastle, NSW.
