Yesterday morning, a terrible accident has taken the life of a young 14-year-old girl.
Highway 14 Crash
The RCMP said around 10:30 a.m. officers were patrolling the highway. They then came across a two-vehicle crash about eight kilometers west of Highway 75. From police investigation, it was determined that a 24-year-old man from Maryfield, was driving westbound on Highway 14. That is when the vehicle crossed over the center line and collided with an eastbound vehicle. The eastbound vehicle was being driven by a 62-year-old man. The 14-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Injuries Sustained
The westbound vehicle with three other occupants was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. People from the westbound apart from the girl received sustainable injuries, but nothing life-threatening according to sources. A 62-year-old male driver of the eastbound vehicle was not injured. There is no other update on the conditions of the injured people. Sadly the 14-year-old girl was not able to make it and died on the spot on the collision.
Investigating The Reason
Police are still investigating how and why the cars collided. Mounties believe seatbelts were being used and that alcohol was not a factor in the collision. Therefore Police continue to investigate the cause of the crash. All that is know that when changing lanes, the westbound car collided with the eastbound one. Some are saying that the westbound car went over the dividing line which caused the accident to occur. Other than no information is being given and there are not any witnesses of what occurred in the rural municipality of Montcalm in Manitoba.
Information about the people in the car and their relationship has not been given to the public. With their release from the hospital, we might get some answers. The police are still investigating the reason for the crash even though they suspect that the westbound car went to change lanes. They are probably waiting to talk to the people of the westbound car who have been taken to the hospital for their injuries. These accident are very scary and traumatizing to experience. They are also very common.
