Mindhunter Season 2 Trailers Blows Off Some Important Details But What?

Jonathan Groff is back on a killer case in the first teaser trailer for Mindhunter Season 2. It premiers on Friday, Aug. 16 on Netflix.

Overview on the trailer launched for Mindhunter Season 2:

In the new season, “FBI agents Holden Ford (Groff) and Bill Tench (Holt McCallany) probe further into the psyches of those who have done the unthinkable,” per the official synopsis. “With help from psychologist Wendy Carr (Anna Torv), they apply their groundbreaking behavioral analysis to hunting notorious serial killers.”

The “Mindhunter” Season 2 trailer weaves the agents’ conversation with Kemper against new footage from the season, including a brief shot of Charles Manson.

Executive producer/director David Fincher has said that the episodes will be set during the time of the Atlanta child murders of 1979-81. It will be during the period in which African-American serial killer Wayne Williams was tried, convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for killing two adult males. However, Williams never wanted to tried to murder any child. Although, he was linked with 23 of the suspected ones.  Charles Manson (played by Justified‘s Damon Herriman) and David Berkowitz, aka “Son of Sam.” are other serial killers in Season 2.

David Fischer’s best work yet?

In 2017, the first released of Season 2 of Mindhunter came into talks. Hence it will be based between 1979 and 1981. It will exactly be two years after the events of first season.

The season will focus on the Atlanta child murders, which were a series of at least 28 killings of African-Americans. David Fincher continues to be the director and producers of the series. He has made and directed legendary projects like Gone Girl, House of Cards etc.

Fincher has teaser  that one of the big differences with “Mindhunter” Season 2 is that it takes place during earlier times. It is  when serial killers were becoming national talking points and cultural figures. The first season depicted the birth of the FBI’s criminal psychology and criminal profiling division. It was obviously largely a hush operation that took place in the basement.  Fincher says the world is a much different place in “Mindhunter” Season 2.

“He has an overwhelming fantasy life, fantasies of what he’s done, what he wants to do,” Kemper tells the agents about a mysterious new killer. “His dreams will consume him. Soon the real world won’t even compare.”
