It has already caused a lot of controversies since its premiere. The drama about Zendaya’s character(Rue) has surpassed its boundaries. Both love and hate came equally to Rue. The ones that liked it, are in awe of her acting now.
A lot of fans do not have good to say about her character as the series continues to make headlines for its outrageous story lines. With first episode, fans were shocked to find themselves a graphic scene close to 30 penises on screen. It was also put on YouTube for audience to watch.
This Drake produced series, according to the synopsis, follows ‘a group of high school students. The journey proceeds as they navigate drugs, sex, identity, trauma, social media, love and friendship.
Zendaya admitted in a statement posted on social media that some scenes ‘can be triggering’ and advised to only watch ‘if you can handle it’. She said: ‘Just a reminder before tonight’s premiere, that Euphoria is for mature audiences. ‘It’s a raw and honest portrait of addiction, anxiety and the difficulties of navigating life today.
HBO’s programming president Casey Bloys said the show was based on creator Sam Levinson’s own experiences. Bloys told the Hollywood Reporter: ‘It may seem boundary-pushing, and the idea of putting them on TV may be, but somebody lived them.
It came after Tim Winter, president of the Parent Television Council suggested the content was too adult for the intended teenage audience.
