After announcing that the contract signed by Chris Evans. Officially ends after Avengers: Endgame, fans all over the world started bracing themselves to see the death of Captain America in Endgame. Although, much to the surprise of everyone, Captain America did not die his end was depicted beautifully.
Steve Rogers went back in time and decided to stay with Peggy Carter and grow old with her. He lept back to the main timeline and gave his shield to Sam expecting him to carry his legacy forward. Even after a definitive ending, optimistic fans couldn’t help but hope for the return of Chris Evans as Steve Rogers in the future.
In an interview with the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Joe and Anthony Russo were asked if Evans would ever play the character again. “Chris is a very emotional person,” they said. “Maybe it’s evident if you follow him on Twitter because he does put his heart into what he says. But I feel like he has to close the door on things, and emotionally move on to the next thing. I think for now he’s emotionally moved on.”
Marvel probably wouldn’t try to employ a Captain America. Sequel with Sam as the new Captain America as it will probably not play well with the fans.
Conclusively, it is safe to presume that the story of Captain America has reached its end in Marvel Cinematic Universe and it’s now time to see the rise of other important characters in the MCU.
