‘The Act’ just wrapped its first season, but we haven’t stopped talking about the murder of Dee Dee Blanchard. At the center of it all is her daughter, Gypsy Rose Blanchard, who is portrayed by actress Joey King. She has done a phenomenal job and lots have come out with people did not actually know. A traumatic past still rulling the present!
But there are few things viewers of the Hulu have questioned along the way, including Gypsy’s distinct voice. Particularly, they’ve been pointing out an unusually pitched voice. Many think that it is actor’s real voice, but surprisingly it isn’t. In fact, when they were casting for her role in The Act, King recalls “the voice” being a crucial part of getting into character. King had a lot prep to do for that voice to come out fluently with balancing pitches.
“It’s just doing your research, watching videos, listening to her speak, and just really trying to get it in my brain as much as possible”, King said. “I’m very happy that I was able to do her voice and become her more completely,” she added.
In 2009, when Gypsy was about 17, her voice had almost a squeaky element to it. It was about the same when she appeared in court for the first time in 2015. Because it was so unique voice, people has lots of questions. Whether it is her real voice? Or was it brought on by years of abuse?
