Vin Diesel officially confirmed his presence in the Avatar sequel. He had everyone buzzing when he recently posted a video from the set of James Cameron’s science fiction sequel. He also admitted that he’d always wanted to work with the legendary director.
The news just speculation until it got cleared at the Avengers Endgame world premiere. While getting interviewed he said: “Probably my favourite in the whole cast and the closest in my family is Zoe Saldana. Hence Avatar. Hence why I’m doing Avatar or one of the reasons.” She plays a pivotal role as the Na’vi revolutionary Neytiri.
Diesel didn’t clarify which Avatar sequel he’ll appear in. But he is the latest additions to Cameron’s five planned films. Academy Award winner Kate Winslet will be appearing as Ronal of the reef people of Metkayina. Sigourney Weaver will play a mysterious new role following the demise of her original character Dr. Grace Augustine in the first film.
Cameron confirmed earlier this year that Avatar 2 will have a significant time jump. The story picks up with Jake and Neytiri now having an 8-year-old daughter together.
Avatar 2 will be released on December 18, 2020. Avatar 3 is then due on December 17, 2021, with Avatar 4arriving on December 20, 2024. Lastly, Avatar 5 on December 19, 2025.
