Jason Momoa has bid farewell to his signature beard after seven years of not shaving. He had shaved last in 2012. Game of Thrones stars’ beard came in handy when he played iconic roles of Khal Drogo and Aquaman. But all of this seems for a good cause.
His grooming video was uploaded on YouTube as part of Momoa’s collaboration with officials at the Ball Corporation. He is set to promote a new line of canned water, which is made of “100 percent recyclable” aluminum. The aim of the shoot was to encourage fans to make a major change in their lives and become more environmentally friendly.
Reflecting on his new appearance, which revealed his chiseled jawline, he quipped: “Looks pretty good!”
The 39-year-old said he wanted to do it to “bring awareness that plastics are killing our planet,” adding that aluminum is the one thing that can save it. According to EPA data, nearly 55% of aluminum beer and soft drink cans were recycled compared to 30% of plastic bottles.
Momoa said he has been working on the passion project for the last two months. So he can set an example to friends, fans and family and do his part to clean up the oceans. Momoa also plugged his own line of sparkling water, which is sold in aluminum cans.
