The official trailer of Disney for The Lion King re-imagining has arrived. This is the “live-action” remake of the 1994 animated film. The Lion King retells the story of Simba, the lion cub prince. The cub who just can’t wait to grow up and become king of Africa’s Pride Lands.
Moreover, Donald Glover is lending his voice to adult Simba in this version of the tale. This opposite a cast that includes James Earl Jones as Simba’s father Mufasa. He is reprising his iconic role from the original movie. Also Chiwetel Ejiofor as Simba’s treacherous uncle, Scar.
However, The Lion King shall air on July 19, 2019. This marks the 25th anniversary of the release of the original film. It will be one of the first theatrical films to be released on Disney+. Alongside Toy Story 4, Frozen 2 and Captain Marvel.
Further, The Lion King is an upcoming American musical fantasy drama film. It is directed by Jon and produced by Walt Disney Pictures. It is a photorealistic computer animated remake of Disney’s traditionally animated 1994 film of the same name. The film stars the voices of Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Alfre Woodard. Also features the voices of Billy Eichner, John Kani, John Oliver, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, and James Earl Jones.
Although, Plans for a remake of The Lion King were confirmed in September 2016. This following the success of Favreau’s The Jungle Book. Much of the main cast signed in early 2017. Also the principal photography began in mid-2017 on a blue screen stage in Los Angeles. The film is scheduled to be theatrically released in the United States on July 19, 2019.
