Jordan Peele is one decorated filmmaker who stunned the viewers with his last project “Get Out”. He released his next film “US” on March 22nd .
This film became more successful than the previous one and broke all the box-office records. It debuted with $70.3 million in ticket sales with budget of $20 million. The film added $16.7m from 47 international territories. Whereas “Get Out” had opened with $33.4 million domestically with only $4.5 million budget.
“Jordan Peele has really crafted an extraordinary story that I think once again is going to capture the cultural zeitgeist,” said Jim Orr, distribution chief for Universal. “He is recognized as just an amazing talent. He crafts films that make you think, that are extraordinarily well-acted, well-written and are amazingly entertaining.”
Us took over the top spot at the box office from Captain Marvel, which had reigned for two weeks. The Marvel Studios superhero release slid to second place with $35m in its third week.
It is also said that while Us has drawn very good reviews, audiences gave a relatively low “B” Cinema Score. Even after the negative comments, the film’s continues its number one position and everybody is rooting for Peele’s accomplishment.
