Waratahs bounce back victorious

The Super Cup Rugby match was held between Crusaders and Waratahs. The final score was Waratahs 20- 12 Crusaders. Waratahs won by 8 points. This was Waratahs’ first over the Crusaders since 2015 and third in 17 attempts going back to 2005.
Waratahs captain Michael Hooper said that “I’m very proud,” “We’re building wins off the defense and it’s great.”

The last time these sides met was 2014 final when the Tahs won by a single point and in doing so ended a run of 11 defeats against the Crusaders. The Crusaders won their last game against the Reds but have only won back to back games once this season, back in mid-March. The last time the Crusaders tasted defeat was in round five last year – more than 12 months ago – against the Highlanders.

When Israel Folau scored in the 74th minute, off a penalty advantage that Bernard Foley kicked to the right wing. He notched up his own milestone by equalling Doug Howlett’s all-time Super Rugby try-scoring record (59).

Crusader’s Coaches and former teammates Daryl Gibson and Scott Robertson said, “It was pretty special.” “It was great to be beside Gibbo who was a proud Crusader in his day and a local boy. We never got to do it last week and saw a lot of other teams do it.”Gibson said: “That transcends sport. You think of others in far worse situations. It was a really nice touch tonight.”

All in all, it was a great performance by Waratahs and they bounced their way back and how.
