He recently won the Dubai Tennis Championships with a 6-4 6-4 victory over Stefanos Tsitsipas on Saturday, that made it Federer’s eighth win in Dubai and becomes the 2nd man to clinch 100 titles in a professional career.
Now he just lagging behind with 9 titles as Jimmy Connors won 109 titles in his magnificent career. His rival Tsitsipas can’t hide the fact that Federer is one of his childhood heroes. Greek star said it had been an honor to share the court with Federer and hailed him for reaching 100 titles.
Moreover, After the game, he said “It’s an honor to play against Roger. “I’ve said it thousands of times, I’ve been idolizing him since the age of six”.
“In Monte Carlo, I had the opportunity to watch Federer play and he put the biggest smile on my face. And now sharing the court is even better.
“I would like to personally congratulate him for the 100. It’s been a long journey I’m pretty sure.
“Getting to 100 is completely insane, I don’t know how he got there. I’ll be happy with 100 wins!
Further, “It’s a great achievement. Not many people have achieved that so double congratulations”.
So it seemed like that he is not worried about his loss and he is privileged to play against his idol and joyfully had an eye on him while Federer lifting his 100th title.
